Not everyone descended upon Indianapolis last week for the NFL Combine.
On Tuesday, Middle Tennessee State University posted photos of Bill Belichick working out with defensive end Tyshun Render, with his MTSU coach Rick Stockstill recently opening up about the school’s recent guest of honor.
“We didn’t make a big deal out of it, didn’t promote it, didn’t tell other players he was coming. I didn’t want it to turn into a circus, everyone coming out to see Coach Belichick. So it was kind of under the radar a little bit,” Stockstill told ESPN. “He was very gracious, talking to us, and with how he treated Tyshun, how he asked him questions, how he communicated with him.”
Render, a 6-foot-4, 256-pound senior, had 36 solo tackles last season and 3.5 sacks, and he’s projected as a late-rounder. And while the Patriots could potentially use one of their picks to draft Render in April, the team has another pressing decision to make in the near future over Tom Brady.
Over the weekend, the 42-year-old quarterback — who is set to become a free agent this month — appeared to cringe in response to teammate Julian Edelman’s “he’s coming back” declaration during Saturday’s Syracuse-UNC game in upstate New York.
