Giants select Darnay Holmes with No. 110 pick in NFL Draft 2020

The Giants selected a much-needed safety on Friday and added to their defensive backfield with their first of seven picks on Saturday.

Big Blue picked UCLA cornerback Darnay Holmes with the No. 110 pick in the fourth round, a day after taking Alabama safety Xavier McKinney in the second round.

Holmes is on the smaller side, at 5-foot-10 and 195 lbs, and has experience. He started 33 of a possible 35 games for the Bruins, finishing his career with eight interceptions, 17 passes defensed and 120 tackles.

In the least, he will provide much-needed depth at the cornerback position, which is in desperate need of it after getting torched so frequently a year ago. He could see time as the Giants’ nickel cornerback. NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks rated him as the top nickel corner in the draft.
