CINCINNATI — The start of the White Sox game against the Reds Tuesday night at Great American Ballpark is being delayed by rain.

The scheduled start time was 5:40 p.m. CT. was pushed back to 6:45 p.m.

The Sox (15-12) are opening a two-game interleague set against the Reds. They are off Thursday before playing a three-game series in Kansas City against the Royals starting Friday.

The Sox have won seven of their last 10 games. Right-hander Dylan Cease (1-0, 2.96 ERA) is scheduled to start and bat for the Sox, who are in second place in the American League Central, one game behind the Royals.

Cease is coming off his best start, a seven inning shutout against the Tigers.

With no designated hitter at the Reds home park, Cease will get to bat.
